Don
Greetings. My name is Don. I am blessed to have been born, raised and live at the foot of Pikes Peak. Upon my passing my ashes will return to the land to join the spirits that gave and guide my life. My childhood was spent wandering this beautiful land. Backpacking with friends up Pikes Peak, camping with family or solitary journeys filled with imagination. I can't count the number of times I spent on the bluffs of Palmer Park, back when it was merely open space, and just sitting and staring at the Peak. I would imagine conversations with her and the thoughts she provoked of the peoples who came before. There was a period of time I lost that connection. I guess it's easy to get caught up in the emptiness of corporate America. However, that loss of connectedness to the land has given me an even greater appreciation for it.
Much of my life has been spent in a state of spiritual confusion. While I respect those devoted to the Christian path it was not something I was ever able to truly connect to. It left me empty. I believed in a spiritual source, but how do I connect to it? My belief is that one's true spirituality derives from one's heritage and the spirits of the land one inhabits. Also, a true spiritual journey is an individual one. Even within a group of like-minded people a true spiritual connection is yours and yours alone. That as my staring point I began to look at nature based paths. I have always had a deep respect of our lands native inhabitants and I began to incorporate that with my Irish heritage. What I found, or began to understand, is a primal belief based in one's own soul. This what people believed before they were told what to believe. My journeys brought me to this web site. It hit me like lightening bolt. "Wow, there are people out there that think like me. I wish I could meet them". Through a twist of fate I was told about an open forum on ancient Celtic spirituality. When Ben and Bryan came to the front of the room I thought, "Hey I know those guys".
So here I am. I have met a group of wonderful people whom I am proud to call friends. This is a place to share spiritual thoughts through discussion, art, poetry without judgment or snickers. I look forward to continued companionship and delving deeper into Celtic spirituality. Through the guidance of Brighid I have found a spiritual home.
Peace.
