Kassie

I was born in Ventura, California and I grew up with a vagabondish family who raced motorcycles, engineered recreational watercraft and had lots of children. (I'm the oldest of 6) moving from place to place, coast to coast every few years or so. We lived in California (twice), Florida, Alabama, North Carolina and Utah.

The longest time we spent anywhere was 7 years in the beautiful western appalachians in North Carolina. It was there in the land of a thousand waterfalls that I felt the pulse of the land. I would spend long summer days traversing the 175 acre farm we lived on, exploring the old barns, waterfalls and creeks. We would often hike the two hour trail over the mountain to my granparent's property and explore the tunnels the rhododendrons made, small caves left from times no one remembers and the endless creeks that danced down the mountain side. Ferns and all manner of plant and animal life covered the forest floor making it a perfect backdrop for years of magical imaginings and I always knew there was something more to this place than mere flora and fauna.

I was raised well and strictly but the experiences I had really had a powerful effect on my character and taught me to stand up for what I believed in, always question and never be afraid.

We soon moved from our farm in the Appalachians and lost my connection with the land when we relocated to Utah but I kept searching for that feeling, pursuing my spiritual path thru various enrollments in college and work I found myself drawn to buddhism which in turn lead to me to a pagan celtic path. Also it lead me to my dear husband, Rick, and we were married September 25th, 2004.

Our enrollment in the Army brought us to beautiful Colorado. The land felt alive again and I was able to find this wonderful group of people. I felt instantly like we were old friends and with support and compassionate love I continue to walk my path. It is natural and familiar to my soul. I know that I've been this way before and even though things have changed my bare feet know this dirt, my hands know these trees, my eyes these vistas and small scenes of offerings, my ears know the sweet whisper of suibhal-bheaan, blessed Brighid and I continue to walk.
